Graduate scholarships

Now national and international students can pursue a postgraduate degree at Khalifa University on a fully funded scholarship. The student applications are assessed based on set merit. Following are the details about the Master’s and Ph.D. scholarships.

National students:

The postgraduate-level scholarships provided to national students have been summarized below

Master Scholarships:

Tier I and Tier II

• Full coverage of tuition fees.
• Textbooks provided by the University.
• Free University accommodation for eligible full-time students only.

Tier III

• 50% waiver of tuition fees.
• Textbooks provided by the University.

Tier IV

• Textbooks provided by the University.

PhD scholarships:

These scholarships are for a Doctoral degree at Khalifa University. It is further divided into two parts, the Research path with work commitment and the Study path without work commitments. Following are the benefits provided with each scholarship.

Research Path (with work commitment)

Tier I (Full-Time only)

• Full coverage of tuition fees.
• Basic monthly stipend of 25,000 AED (pensionable).
• Additional monthly allowance of 35,000 AED, subject to approval and meeting scholarship progression criteria.
• Registration in the Abu Dhabi Retirement Pensions and Benefits Fund.

All the benefits of Tier I with an additional monthly allowance of 15,000 AED.

Tier IV (Full-Time only)

Study Path (without work commitment)

It has the following four Tiers.

Tier I (Full-Time only)

• Full coverage of tuition fees.
• Monthly stipend of 10,000 AED.
• Free University accommodation for eligible full-time students only.
• Textbooks provided by the University.
• Support to attend international research conferences, subject to approval.

Tier II:

• All the benefits of Tier I but a Monthly stipend of 5,000 AED.

Tier III:

• 50% tuition fee Waiver
• Free university accommodation and textbooks by the University.

Tier IV:

• 25% fee waiver with free university accommodation and textbooks provided by the University.

International Buhooth Scholarship Benefits:

This program has been designed for UAE Nationals to help promote graduate-level research and develop human capital in science. Students will be registered in graduate programs offered by the best international universities in the world.

Benefits:

• Full tuition fee coverage and a monthly stipend.
• Overseas allowance when the students reside overseas.
• Allowance for attending international research conferences.
• Registration in the Abu Dhabi Retirement Pensions and Benefits Fund.
• Commitment to work with Khalifa University or a nominated entity upon graduation for a period equivalent to the study period.
• Medical insurance and yearly round trip for themselves and their spouse along with the eligible dependents.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants must be UAE Nationals.
• Applicants must be a graduate of Khalifa University.
• Graduates from other institutions may be considered in exceptional cases.
• Applications must be submitted online through the Khalifa University Admission Portal.

The applicants applying to Khalifa University must meet the specific requirements of the program the applicants are applying to. They must meet the following CGPA requirements as well:

• Minimum Bachelor CGPA of 3.50 (or equivalent) for applications to Master’s programs.
• Minimum Bachelor CGPA of 3.50 (or equivalent) and Master CGPA of 3.70 (or equivalent) for applications to Ph.D. programs.
• Applicants must provide an admission offer letter from a top-ranked international institution (preferred top 50 QS or THE ranking).
• The letter will be submitted with the application at the time of submission.

International Students:

These scholarships are for qualified international students willing to enroll in programs at Khalifa University. Following are the programs in which Khalifa University offers scholarships to international students at the graduate level.

Master’s scholarship:

Following are the benefits provided to international students in the Master’s program.

Tier I and Tier II

• Full coverage of tuition fees.
• Textbooks provided by the University and Free University accommodation for eligible students.

PhD Scholarships:

This scholarship is for international students who wish to pursue a Doctoral degree at Khalifa University. The following are the two paths for international students to apply for Ph.D. scholarships.

Research Path (with work commitment)

Tier I (Full-Time only)

• Full coverage of tuition fees and a monthly stipend of 20,000 AED.
• Additional monthly allowance of 20,000 AED.
• The University provides textbooks and Medical insurance coverage.
• Financial support for attending international research conferences.
• Mobilization and demobilization of flights and coverage of UAE application visa fee.
• Commitment to work with Khalifa University or a nominated place upon graduation for a period equivalent to the study period at Khalifa University.

Tier II:

All the benefits of Tier I except that the additional allowance provided to the students will be 10,000 AED.

Tier III:

All the benefits of Tier I except that there will be a 75% tuition fee waiver and the monthly stipend will be 20,000 AED with no additional allowance.

Tier IV:

All the benefits of Tier I except that there will be a 50% fee waiver and no stipend or allowances.

Study Path (without work commitment).

Tier I (Full-Time only)

• Full coverage of tuition fees and Monthly stipend of 4,000 AED.
• The University provides Free University accommodation and textbooks.
• Finances to attend international conferences.
• Mobilization and demobilization flights and coverage of UAE visa application.

Tier II:

75% fee waiver, a monthly stipend of 2,000, and all the benefits of tier I.

Tier III:

50% waiver of tuition fee but no stipend. All the other benefits of Tier I are included.

Tier IV:

25% tuition fee waiver without stipend. All the other benefits of Tier I are included.

China Scholarship Council- Khalifa University Joint Ph.D. scholarships:

Khalifa University of Science and Technology (KU) collaborated with the China Scholarship Council (CSC) to make a program called CSC- KU Scholarship. It is to allow the qualified and deserving Chinese nationals to get scholarships for Ph.D. in Engineering or Science at KU.

Benefits:

• Annual flight tickets.
• Full waiver of tuition and research-associated fees.
• Free university accommodation and free textbooks.
• Medical insurance and Visa processing costs.

Application:

• The candidate must apply online for the Ph.D. program at Khalifa University.
• The candidates must apply to CSC once they receive admission offer from Khalifa University.
• It can be done by completing an application at http://apply.csc.edu.cn.

Scholarship eligibility:

• The applicant must be a permanent resident of China.
• The applicant must have an unconditional approval for admission to a Ph.D. program at KU.
• The applicant should have official approval for a scholarship award from CSC before registration at Khalifa University.

Duration:

The Ph.D. program is for a maximum of 48 months.

Terms and Conditions:

To continue to receive the scholarship, the students need to follow the following protocols:

• Register as a full-time student every semester, summer term included.
• The candidate must maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.5 out of 4 during the study period at Khalifa University.

Ku Medical Scholarship for All Students

This program has been designed to support the students who want to pursue careers impacting people’s lives. The program supports graduate studies in Medicine. The students who will be granted Medical scholarships at Khalifa University will get registration at the Pre-Medicine Bridge program.

All national and international students who graduated from high school up to two years ago can apply. Admission for Fall 2023 term started on the 16^th of January, 2023. The deadline for submission is the 2nd of June, 2023.

Step 4: Attach all the documents required

• Certified copy of Bachelor’s/Master’s degree certificate
• Equivalency certificate issued by the UAE Ministry of Education for applicants from institutions outside of the UAE.
• Official school transcript showing the grading scale.
• English language proficiency score certificate (IELTS, TOEFL, or EmSAT).
• Official TOEFL score reports can be sent directly by your institution to Khalifa University of Science and Technology using the institutional TOEFL code 0960.
• Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score report. Official score reports can be sent directly to Khalifa University of Science and Technology using the institutional GRE code 0822.
• Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV).
• Statement of Purpose (500 to 1,000 words).
• Passport-style photograph on a white background.
• Copy of valid passport. International applicants who reside in the UAE should also upload a clear copy of their valid UAE visa.
• Copy of Family Book (Khulasat Al Qaid). This is required for UAE National applicants only.
• Valid UAE national ID card (for national and international applicants currently residing in the UAE).

Step 4: Submit Application:

• Scanned documents in format (max 4MB PDF for documents and max 2MB JPEG for photographs). Hard copies won’t be accepted.
• The email addresses of two references who will be invited to complete an online reference form once the application has been submitted.
